Commercial Licence - Greece
Only vessels with a charter license in place are eligible to charter in Greece
As per the Law 4926/2022, there are two types of charter licenses:
a. the Greek charter license which is valid for three (3) years via the e-ships registry.
b. the Specified Period Charter License via the e-Charter permission electronic platform which is valid for 28 days per calendar year.
Chartering in Greece is available for all EU-flagged yachts that are commercially registered and for commercially registered non-EU-flagged yachts, constructed from steel, plastic, or aluminum (excluding wood), with an overall length of 35 meters or more, are eligible for chartering in Greek waters.

On the 10th of April 2025, the Italian Customs Agency (Agenzia dei Monopoli e delle Dogane, “ADM”) passed Circular 8/2025 on customs procedures for the yachting sector, specifically addressing non-EU commercial yachts.
